Un récord más, y van unos cuantos. Con su titularidad en el partido de la Nations League de la UEFA ante Suiza este 14 de noviembre, Sergio Ramos se ha convertido en el jugador europeo con más partidos con su selección.
El capitán español ha superado los 176 disputados por otra leyenda del fútbol del Viejo Continente, el arquero Gigi Buffon. Ramos ha lucido el escudo de la Roja en 177 ocasiones, y a sus 34 años ya divisa en el horizonte un nuevo reto: batir el récord absoluto de internacionalidades, en poder del egipcio Ahmed Hassan, retirado en 2012. Está a 8 partidos de lograrlo.

🤓 ¿Sabías que…? Récords y curiosidades sobre Ramos
- Debut: fue en marzo de 2005 de la mano de Luis Aragonés y en un amistoso ante China. Ramos tenía 18 años. “Todos saltando de alegría y mi madre llorando es la imagen que se me viene”, recordaba el jugador sobre el momento en que se enteró de la convocatoria.
- Los primeros 100: fue el jugador más joven en Europa en llegar a la centena de internacionalidades. Lo conseguía a los 26 años, en un duelo ante Finlandia en 2013.
- Defensa… ¿o delantero?: Ramos superó recientemente el registro del argentino Daniel Passarella para convertirse en el defensor más goleador del fútbol internacional. Actualmente suma 23 tantos. Se estrenó en 2005 con un doblete a San Marino.
- Récord de victorias: de sus 177 partidos con España, 128 terminaron con resultado victorioso, algo que no ha logrado nadie más. Tres de ellas significaron sus 3 títulos con la Roja: la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2010 y las Eurocopas de 2008 y 2012.
- De lateral a central: Ramos comenzó su carrera como lateral derecho, desde donde fue fundamental en la consecución de la EURO 2008 y el Mundial. En 2012 la lesión de su compañero Ricardo Carvalho en el Real Madrid, y de Carles Puyol en la Roja, le llevaron a ocupar el centro de la zaga, posición en la que sigue desde entonces.

El nacimiento del Tiki-Taka

Ramos fue protagonista en el partido que dio inicio a la era dorada del fútbol español. La Roja de Luis Aragonés, en serias dificultades, tenía que ganar a Dinamarca para seguir dependiendo de sí misma en el clasificatorio a la EURO 2008. Y lo consiguió en un partido recordado por una jugada en concreto. 28 pases y 1’15’’ minutos de tiempo pasaron desde que Joaquín inició el ataque y hasta que Ramos marcó. Acababa de nacer el tiki-taka.
Tras esta victoria España logró clasificar al torneo que meses después ganaría desplegando un juego brillante y con Ramos como titular indiscutible.
La madre de todos los títulos

Sergio Ramos fue clave en el momento cumbre del fútbol español. Titular en los 7 partidos, jugó todos los minutos en Sudáfrica 2010 a excepción del cuarto de hora final en el duelo de la fase de grupos ante Honduras. El hoy capitán de la Roja fue uno de los pulmones del equipo con su continuo despliegue en ataque. De hecho, terminaría siendo el jugador que más regates completó en el torneo, 31, superando al alemán Lukas Podolski (27), a Andrés Iniesta (26), a David Villa y Leo Messi (25).
A lo ‘Panenka’

A pesar de los dos penales errados este sábado ante Suiza, Ramos está considerado un especialista desde los 11 metros. Pero no siempre fue así. En abril de 2012 un penalti suyo a las nubes dejó al Madrid sin jugar la final de la Liga de Campeones. Las críticas le llovieron entonces al defensor, que se tomaría su particular revancha un par de meses más tarde.
Tanda de penales en las semifinales de la EURO 2012 entre España y Portugal. Ramos lanzaba el cuarto de los suyos… y batió a Rui Patricio a lo Panenka. “No tenía miedo, siempre he tenido confianza”. La Roja pasó a la final y el resto es historia.
