EL RESUMEN DEL DÍA - Japón y España disputarán la final de la Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-20 de la FIFA Francia 2018, tras imponerse en semifinales a Inglaterra y Francia, respectivamente. La jornada de semifinales resultó verdaderamente apasionante y los espectadores disfrutaron de dos partidos trepidantes.
En la primera semifinal, la selección japonesa repitió la gran actuación que ya había protagonizado frente a Alemania y no dio opción alguna al combinado inglés. De hecho, las jóvenes Nadeshiko son las máximas favoritas al título para Silvia Neid, ganadora del premio The Best a la Entrenadora de la FIFA en Fútbol Femenino 2016.
En el segundo partido de la jornada, las dos selecciones europeas en liza libraron una batalla de gran intensidad. Francia dominó durante largos tramos del encuentro y dispuso de las mejores ocasiones, pero al final fueron las españolas quienes se llevaron el gato al agua gracias a su extraordinaria eficacia en ataque.

Por tercera vez, una selección asiática y una europea se jugarán el título de la Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-20 de la FIFA. En la final de Tailandia 2004, Alemania se impuso a RP China, mientras que RDP de Corea derrotó a Francia en la de Papúa Nueva Guinea 2016. Pero, como no hay dos sin tres, Japón y España se verán las caras en el partido que decidirá el título mundialista de este año. Una racha que termina y otra que empieza
Al final no pudo ser para Georgia Stanway. La dorsal número 10 de Inglaterra llevaba cuatro partidos seguidos marcando, pero el balón no quiso entrar en el duelo de semifinales frente a Japón. Entretanto, Riko Ueki inició su propia racha. La japonesa, que no marcó en los dos primeros partidos de su equipo en el certamen, anotó una tripleta contra Paraguay y volvió a ver puerta frente a Alemania e Inglaterra.

Independientemente de lo que ocurra en la final, España ya ha hecho historia al alcanzar el partido por el título de la Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-20 de la FIFA por primera vez en su historia. Si acaban alzándose con la victoria, las españolas habrán conquistado un nuevo logro sin precedentes, ya que La Rojita nunca ha ganado un certamen mundialista en la modalidad femenina. Sin embargo, la escuadra ibérica cuenta con tres jugadoras que ya saben lo que es jugar una final mundialista, puesto que Patricia Guijarro, Carmen Menayo y Aitana Bonmati formaron parte de la selección que representó a España en la final de la Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-17 de la FIFA Costa Rica 2014, donde tuvieron como rival nada menos que a... ¡Japón! Por si fuera poco, España afronta la gran final con buenas sensaciones tras haberse impuesto a la escuadra nipona en la fase de grupos por 1-0.
Primera expulsión del certamen
Hubo que esperar hasta las semifinales para ver la primera tarjeta roja de esta cita mundialista. Tras cometer una aparatosa entrada sobre Selma Bacha en el minuto 69 del partido entre Francia y España, Aitana Bonmati vio la segunda tarjeta amarilla y tuvo que irse a la ducha antes de tiempo.
